Harry:

The SE floppy disc drive works fine, but some of the old floppy discs are unreadable.

Just now I turned on the SE, to see how much memory it had, but the only thing the "control panel" told me was that the "ram cache" was 512K. I can set the desktop patterns, and also have an "After Dark" program installed. As strange as it may seem, the date (which I have not set or looked at in ten or fifteen years) is correct, showing 11/10/101 ! The clock was off exactly 2 hours, but then I live in Shelbyville, so that's not really too bad around here.

Naturally, this up to date machine has a "find file," "key caps," "Chooser" for the "Desk writer" printer, and a "Scrapbook." With all those built in features, you can see why I purchased it in 1988.

I think my Apple//e was faster than the Mac SE!

I don't have any games or other software for the SE but I'm wondering how you will get them into the SE if it's floppy doesn't work.

OK Harry, it is VERY slow, but after all, it was a pioneer model. It is still pretty cute, but I have trouble finding good software for it these days. Does anyone have some old games, such as Fokker Triplane from Bullseye Software? My floppy doesn't work anymore. But the old Microsoft word is still funtional.

Perhaps I should mention that I have a G5 for backup.

Tom:

I have a Mac SE, model m5010, circa 1988 that still works fine, and
has never been in the shop.

But it is a little slow by modern standards.
