Anne,

I don’t know if you want to try this but when I use TimeMachine to populate a
new machine and I know all files are on the new machine I then Format the
TimeMachine and begin a new backup immediately. I have a few hours where I am
flying blind with no backup so it can be risky but in the past when I try to
“delete” the files on TimeMachine I may as well take a couple week vacation, so
the formatting is complete in seconds and the new backup is completed in a few
hours.
