Netwokers:

Perhaps also there is a problem with understanding what the distinction is
between Appletalk and LocalTalk. I don't think I do. The printers I have are
serial (Apple CSW 4100 and HP DeskWriter (the original, venerable, and still
very functional), but hooked up to my 950 via a PhoneNet network using AppleTalk.

Is LocalTalk some 3rd thing?

Not quite, here's the setup:

    DuoDock---Printer 1 ----Printer 2 <-----(AppleTalk/PhoneNet via Printer Port)

         |

         |

950 (server) ----Ethernet LAN ------> 7100 (Ethernet LAN)

The 950 is "in the middle" as it were. I want it to be able to "talk to" both
the printers and DuoDock via "old-fashioned" AppleTalk on one side and to the
7100 via ethernet on the other. I'd rather not invest in new hardware if it's
not absolutely neccessary.

The problem at the moment (though I would like to share printers) IS NOT
printing from the 7100, it's printing from the 950. If I have AppleTalk set to
ethernet, the 950 doesn't see the printers. If I have to switch back and
forth between ports, that kind of obviates the whole point of having them
hooked up. I want something more or less seamless.

Thanks,
