AppleTalk refers to Apple's network protocol, independent of the transport medium (EtherTalk - AppleTalk over Ethernet, LocalTalk - AppleTalk over RS-485, ARA - AppleTalk over modem dialup, and others). LocalTalk is a specific hardware protocol for using AppleTalk. Both the CSW 4100 and HP DeskWriter are serial or LocalTalk (early versions of the HP DW were serial only with an optional LT interface). > >Is LocalTalk some 3rd thing?
