If you are running OS 9, just go to the Remote Access control panel. Then go to the Remote Access menu, and choose Answering. You can set any OS 9 computer to be a single port remote access dialup server using standard PPP which means any client can connect, not just Macs. Once you are connected, anything the host computer can do on the network, the dialup user can do as well. >Would this get rid of the need to buy IPNetRouter? My honest opinion... don't waste a 400 Mhz G3 for your desired task. Keep the slackware x86 box, and install a copy of IPCop or similar. That will do probably everything you want in terms of a NAT/firewall. With a little bit of checking, I'm sure you can turn up a PPP dialup server package for linux as well (first hit on Google for "Linux PPP Server" is a How To guide for setting one up). Then you can use the G3 for some other task that it is better suited for. Or heck, send it to me :-) -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- MacNetwork is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
