Sure, its a standalone product. You can buy new copies from Apple
directly. And I'm sure you can probably find older versions on ebay or
other similar places (looks like ebay has a number of copies available).
I see no reason that it wouldn't be legally transferable to another user.
Thanks for the input. Part of the scenario I described was simply to learn the vagaries of X server and/or AppleShare. Sure, I could simply buy an external broadband router but I'm wanting to learn the stick shift way. My Slack box has scripts handwritten by a former classmate of mine (I was in an Info Sys degree program last year) who spits out C (yes, C--not C++) for breakfast. In his presence, I am so not worthy. But since I do know a bit of C++ and Java (besides being a minister) I'm studying the scripts and wanting to handtool a bit on other platforms. FreeBSD is actually my platform of choice (I have another x86 box with 5.2.1-RELEASE to play with) but if I could get X Server to see all the admin tools I've heard about. IOW, I'm in learning mode.
