Re: HP 4000 driver for OS 7.5

The printer is a HP LaserJet 4000N which is connected via Ethernet 
cable to a Linksys Router.  The other computers are a G3 Tower and an 
8600 which are connected to the Linksys via switches.  They can see 
the printer as can 2 PCs which are also connected to the network at 
various times.  The PB150 is connected via an Asante SCSI-Ethernet 
adaptor.  On the PB150 I am able to check email on AOL via the 
network and see the other computers with the Chooser.  When I click 
on LaserWriter 8 nothing shows.  The LaserWriter 8 extension is v. 
8.3.4.  I am running OS 7.6.1.

Nope, LaserWriter 8 will do it. In fact, HP at least used to recommend
that you use Apple's LaserWriter driver and their PPD for their printers
(this was said to me from an HP rep when I was having problems with
botched printouts using their drivers... he told me their drivers were
less than stellar on the Mac and to just use their PPD with the Apple
driver).
If you can't see the HP with LaserWriter 8, make sure it is setup and
hooked up correctly. Are you using a JetDirect card (or other print
server/spooler) that supports EtherTalk? Is it configured to allow use of
the EtherTalk?
