Okay fellow list members I took every ones advice, got rid of MacPoET and used the router to do the PPPOE or DHCP hook up for the Powerbook, got an IP address in the TCP/IP Control Panel and I am still having trouble connecting to the Internet. Every time I attempt to load a page via Internet Explorer I get this dialogue :{attempt to load accessing url _http://yada.yada.yada_ failed}. My mind is at a stand still here, perhaps it was never actually working, What else do I need to do to get this thing to connect. Do I need Internet Configure or some other obscure Internet connection

I 'm not an expert - but that notice usually comes up when you have that address typed in your address box on your web browser page. See if you can delete it from the page and put in what you want to connect . WWW.yada.com comes up as a legitimate url for me.
