Really? The heart of WebObjects is EOF. Maybe part of the issue is which WebObjects. Originally, WO and EOF were Objective C; java was supported by a bridge. Then, everything became Java, first, and objective C was supported by a bridge. Now, that bridge (as I understand it) is gone, and Apple is just doing generic Java. Heck, if you're on PPC, you can't get Java updates anymore. So where are WO and EOF now? Looking over the frameworks on 10.5.8 PPC, I see: Kleiman-ibook:Frameworks michael$ ls -ldt Jav* 0 drwxr-xr-x 7 root wheel 238 Mar 23 15:08 JavaScriptCore.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 7 root wheel 238 Mar 23 08:37 JavaFrameEmbedding.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x@ 12 root wheel 408 Mar 23 08:37 JavaVM.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOApplication.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOGeneration.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOInterface.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOInterfaceCocoa.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOInterfaceSwing.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 204 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOProject.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEORuleSystem.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Mar 11 2009 JavaEOTool.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x@ 7 root wheel 238 Mar 11 2009 JavaEmbedding.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Aug 23 2008 JavaWebObjects.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 7 root wheel 238 Aug 23 2008 JavaWOJSPServlet.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Aug 23 2008 JavaFoundation.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Aug 23 2008 JavaEOCocoa.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaWebServicesGeneration.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaXML.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaDirectToWeb.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaJNDIAdaptor.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaWebServicesClient.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaJDBCAdaptor.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaEODistribution.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaDTWGeneration.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaWOExtensions.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaWebServicesSupport.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaEOAccess.framework/ 0 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 23 2007 JavaEOControl.framework/ So all of web objects / EOF is now Java based. The core -- EOF, WO, DTW -- is all 3.5 years old. Even the stuff which is updated is two years old. There is nothing on their website that I can find promoting this. /Developer/Documentation has nothing on EOF or WO. Oh -- wait a sec, I did find docs from sep 2007 or 2009, hidden away underneath stuff. Even Private frameworks has nothing. Heck, I don't see any WOScript support in there. If this is "alive and well", I'd hate to be on life support ...
