Most of the folks who are going to care about a Perl upgrade _right now_
are on this list.  If some of us start shipping Perl-based apps now,
however, an upgrade could affect end-users.  So, maybe we should hope for
a speedy upgrade to 5.8, including the most critical modules.

That said, what are these "critical modules" and what is their version
status?  Here is a start on a list:
