I thought it was a well known fact that Apple got started on the Perl bridge work (ala Camelbones) late, and it would be a stretch if all the work would be completed in time for the Leopard release. At-least I recall reading that several places. Disappointing, yes, but it's not anything they couldn't finish and release via a .x update. Hopefully they will!
