Hi Peggy, It's actually the top and center of the wheel that you need to press simultaneously. This is somewhat unintuitive, so I had to check the manual again:
To reset iPod nano: 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again). 2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. The menu button is at the top of the wheel. I'm glad you got things working. Did the instructions I sent off list of using VO-Up arrow twice to get to the sync field information work for you?
