I use an iCloud Alias for all lists that I'm subscribed to leaving my main e-mail address protected. I have never used a G mail account for this list or any other list. When I first signed up to this list, there was some instruction to say that you had to have a Gmail account. However, I signed up to google using an iCloud alias. So I was able to subscribe to this list using an alias. I do not use Google-mail as I prefer my iCloud aliases and my e-mail ID e-mail. I'm sorry that I do not know why you are having trouble with the rules. Hopefully, someone can help you further with this. Kawal.
