You won't lose any emails if you delete your account. They will be there in your inbox.
And I cloud alias is an email that you can have when you go into your iCloud preferences on the web. You can find the option in the more actions menu if you go to the web. It's like having another email address but it is in your iCloud account. Maybe someone else can explain if you don't quite understand.
