Golden Frog VyprVPN are a bit on the expensive side, yes. You definitely get what you pay for, though you will have to configure things manually if you want to avoid the inaccessible iOS app. But it’s really quite easy to do that on iOS and Mac; both support PPTP and L2TP+IPSec.
