Alex,
Ok I will get into that area and try the suggestions. I might just be making ot harder than it is.

ET and Anatoliy,
To drag items, if vo commands don't work, use the mouse. ET, this is
used to "hide" folders--just drag them off the favorites bar. To drag,
move to the folder, put the mouse on it with vo-cmd-f5, then lock the
mouse down with vo-shift-cmd-space. Move to (or from) the favorites bar,
interact, put the mouse there with vo-cmd-f5 again, and release it with
another vo-shift-cmd-space. Use the same commands to move folders around
in the favorites bar, to get them in the order you want. Remember that
the command key with a number will open that folder--cmd-1 opens the
first folder, cmd-2 opens the second, and so on. ET, I'm not sure what
those buttons do, sorry.

Alex,
Thanks for the thought (and, for that matter, your Applevis podcasts
- concise and straight to the point).
Could you, please, describe: just how would you edit favorits folder list?
Didn't find appropriate menu items, built-in help is mouse-user
oriented. Tried conventional drag and drop (VO+, and VO+.), didn't
quite work out.
Thanks!

each account and folders under it, Mail on OS X offers one folder, with accounts
under it. For example, if you find the inbox, you can press right arrow to view
all four accounts, thus viewing inbox emails from jut that account. The advantage
is that, if you want to just get to all your mail and don't care which account
it's from, you can simply view your unified inbox and not choose an account. I do
this nearly all the time, and it lets me view email from all my accounts so I can
quickly see everything.

could make each account's inbox a favorite, then switch to each one with cmd-1
through cmd-4. Or, you could embrace the unified approach for inboxes, and set up
a folder for each mailing list or mailing list category you're on. That's my
setup--cmd-1 for my unified inbox, cmd-2 for my Apple-related lists, and cmd-3 for
my programming-related lists. The nice thing about this latter option is that, if
you use server-based rules to sort messages to different folders, those rules
apply equally on your Mac and your phone, or any other device you use (like an
iPad).
