Hi petrus,

There is a lets say tab for book marking the page your on,

The page or book is in the next tab to the right if you swipe right.

It should be headed at the title as what is new in ios 13.

If you use your Table of contents to find the page wanting, and select that,

Then go back to the t ab with the document in it and so long as it is on the
correct page you should be able to swipe 2 fingers down the screen to get
voiceover reading the book out from that point and it should keep continuously
read it.

Subject: Re: Text based resource for iOS 13 from a blindness perspective

Hi,
This is going to sound silly as I must be doing something wrong. I like to
think of myself as pretty good as far as using IOS and voice over on the
iPhone. But I’ve always had trouble reading text based books in the books App.
I downloaded the iPhone user guide for IOS 13 and found the paragraph regarding
accessibility and jumped to page 800 and something, but I can only get
voiceover to read the first page of that section. How do I get it to read the
entire paragraph? I’m still on IOS 12.4.1 as I’ll update tonight when my wife
is home. I always like to have some working eyes around before I start the
update, not that I’ve ever had any problems with updates before. So I might get
better luck reading the user guide after I update.

Hi,

Have you looked in the Apple Book Store. Apple has an iPhone user Guide for
iOS 13. It would have all the VoiceOver stuff under the Accessibility section.
These books are automatically updated as the iOS is updated. It is in the
store now.

Later...

I am one of those folks who vastly prefers text based resources for learning
rather than Podcasts. I find that much more efficient, especially when it comes
to needing to refer to something that you’ve already read and forgotten. So, I
am wondering if there is going to be a text based resource this year for iOS
13. Jonathan Mosen used to do an excellent one, but he’s not doing it anymore.

I know a couple of folks have done text based resources, and Anna, who is one
of them, is on at least some of the list where I’m sending this message. The
thing I liked about Jonathan‘s book was that it came out when you needed it,
simultaneously with the upgrade. So I’m wondering if anybody knows whether
Anna‘s book or perhaps Shelly’s book are going to be released in the near
future. Hoping for something besides podcasts, please!
Mary
