Ah I see. So how does Safari on IOS work?
I use Chrome a bit more on my mack. Cause command enter and you open a new tab. Shift enter new window. I don't like that in Safari you have to do the VO shift M which is like having to do applications in Windows. Because this menu sometimes when Safari decides it's had enough of you disappears. But then Mack does have some cool things. I like how you stay in the brouzer window. You don't alt tab oh and you now get Mail alt tab ah now here's Pro Tools alt tab ah few finally the other brouzre window. I also like in emails you can open links via the applications key which of course VO Shift M and choose a brouzer. Without changing the defalt 1. ________________________________ From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Dave Carlson <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 24, 2026 3:16 PM To: Mac Visionaries <[email protected]> Subject: Re: New to this group and questions about the Mac Tommy, What I mean is that iOS Voiceover is easier to use than on a Mac. On a Mac you are required to interact with things to be able to do things with them. iOS the focus is automatic when its spoken. More full featured to me is that there are many more apps for the iPhone than for the Mac, and many iPhone apps do not have a Mac equivalent. I ask because though I do have an IPhone I mostly used my PC for everything. Yes I read key words here read things on the web. But I don't use Safari IOS as it were. I do use male and I do prefer it VS Mack Male. But if it were easy to shift categories in mack male like IOS then fine. Meaning the primary, Promotions, Transactions and updates sub inboexes or I guess just categories for your email in your inbox. Safairi is just poorly written FireFox. VO on Mack feels once you get over the interacting and vo this vo that vo shift command this and that thing again kinda meh NVDA. Sorry if I trigger anyone. But this is just how Mack feels and sometimes it can get mad anoying. But that isn't much what sometimes makes me wana say uncle. I'll get into that on an issues with VO thread. ________________________________ From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> on behalf of Dave Carlson <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sent: Sunday, May 24, 2026 2:04 PM To: Mac Visionaries <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: Re: New to this group and questions about the Mac Brennen, Voiceover on the Mac is not nearly as full-featured as on the iPhone. I’ve found this over the years using both platforms. I usually go to my iPHone when doing web searching or using the installed apps, preferring it to the Mac. My main use of the Mac is for email and document composition. Otherwise, I’d have no need for a Mac. This is what I’ve learned having a Mac for 7 years, being a 30+ year Windows user before then. I will admit that one main reason for going to a Mac was to get better integration in the Apple ecosystem with music, books, messages, notes, mail, calendar, contacts, and iCloud storage. Can’t beat that. It’s a big jump and not as simple as using your iPhone. Again recommend you start reading/listening to tutorials for Voiceover on the Mac before making the purchase decision. Your Windows PC is a good machine, and likely serves you well with email and documents. Especially since it's so so different. In my case it was to learn the DAW of DAWs. ProTools. But yes what will you be doing with it you can't or you feel would be better on Mack VS Windows? You also though don't have to do the once you go Mack you never go back thing. I'm not. For now I still have my Dell laptop. ________________________________ From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> on behalf of Karen Lewellen <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sent: Sunday, May 24, 2026 1:01 PM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: Re: New to this group and questions about the Mac greetings hamit, I am going to pop in with a different kind of advice. When still working in adaptive technology, the first thing I would ask a person interested in making changes is this. what can you not do now with your current machine, that your new machine will make possible? That is important, especially where your wanting to run Mac and Windows on the same computer is concerned. certainly it can be done. but so can securing an entry level mac, learning a new system while working with your old one, and discovering how the new system fits your computer desires.
