You might go in to keyboard under system preferences, and disable some of the 
keyboard shortcuts in there. There was one that was driving me nuts, I don't 
know if I had accidentally set it or if it was a default setting, the dash key 
was set to show and hide the doc. Got rid of that as well as the keystroke for 
changing whether or not tab and shift tab move keyboard focus to all controls. 
There's a whole section for the dashboard I think, or in Lion, I think it's 
mission control.
