Honestly, yes, I think it would be a good idea, but not sure if it should be 
sent the same day.
But it is a theory that could use some very careful validation.

I’ve been very disturbed by a number of abuse campaigns targeting individuals 
with “Confirmation” messages from thousands of mailinglists all at once, 
obviously being driven by some sort of ‘bot, and I am of the opinion that we 
need to very carefully evaluate exactly how we manage mailinglists for the 
benefit of the ones who want “our” mailings, as well as the protection of those 
who don’t, and I do agree it’s a thorny problem.

There are services like “Safe-Unsubscribe”, but I do wonder if what we’re 
really looking for is a “Safe Subscribe” to manage the beginning of the process 
so that things don’t get out of hand.

How exactly that would work, I am unsure.
I suspect it would need to be tied in to the MUA itself, possibly with the help 
of the nearest MTA.
