Hi all,

Not sure if this is the best place, but I'm installing mapnik and its geodjango friends on windows. Everything I do is normally on ubuntu, so it took me about a day...

Remaining problem: the geo database is oracle, so apparently I need the "geos" library. The error I'm getting is:

ImproperlyConfigured: Could not import user-defined GEOMETRY_BACKEND "geos".

Well, I didn't install the geos library yet. But I cannot find a windows installable for that. Either I'm blind or nobody uses oracle+geo stuff on windows :-)

a) Do I really need that geos library? Or could there be something wrong with the oracle installation (like missing geo templates whatever).

b) Where can I grab a windows installer for GEOS?

In the meantime I'll prepare the cup of poison for the customer that demands windows "as it is easier for their IT department" :-)
