Enlarge the whole map window and try again. I too have had this happen but
do not recall the context. Likely you have already tried this.
One thing I find is that if I get totally stuck with something, I save the
map, close down Mapt and open it all up again. In the interim it takes a
rest and does better on the next try. OK, that's anthropomorphizing, but we
all know that some software has more personality than many people ...
It would be useful if the legend could be totally edited, sized, etc
directly to the legend without intermediate dialogue boxes - like a drawing
object but still connected to the legend innards in Mapt.

Has anybody ever experienced a legend getting stuck, so that it can't be
moved around on the map?
What to do?
I know how to make it a separate window, and how to attach it to the
map. I just need the attached legend to not obscure the map.
I have a map of maryland. I need the legend to go where Virginia would be,
not right on top of the Maryland part of the DelMarva peninsula.
