Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html

Hi -

I think I instigated this discussion by posting what I read in
ESRI's ArcNews about their doing Community 2020. I'm happy to
see so much discussion.

Unfortunately, I think what we are seeing at HUD is happening
throughout government agencies. Raw data is getting more difficult
to obtain and interpreted subsets are taking their place. I've
recently had to file FOIAs for data that for one reason or another
was "shelved" and became unavailable.

So, even if HUD will no longer offer Community 2020 as a stand-
alone program we should all still push them hard to make the raw
data available to us for downloading from their website. They can
even give it to us in ESRI's arcview format if need be. Luckily, the
power of maptitude can overcome and import this format with ease.
