Well, Kjartan won today's who-can-respond-first contest. Some notes on
parentheses and clauses:
- Both of our solutions will work.
- I put the if...then...else clause outside the Proper() function, because
it does not need to be inside.
- It is good to put parentheses around the if...then...else clause.
- It does not hurt, but is not necessary, to put parentheses around the
condition between "if" and "then," or around string expressions such as
that after "else."
- The "then" and "else" expressions can themselves be if...then...else
clauses, allowing three or more cases, such as less than/equal to/greater
than or low/medium/high categories. For example:
(if percent lt 25 then "Low" else (if percent gt 75 then "High" else
"Medium") )
Another handy clause is (between...and...), as well as (not between...and...):
(if (percent between 25 and 75) then "Medium" else (if percent gt 75 then
"High" else "Low") )
The permutations are endless. Have fun!
