I read Žižek's piece in yesterday's paper, I thought that it was good. It's the first thing by him I've actually managed to read to the end without giving up on account of bafflement or annoyance on my part at his customary pretentiousness. However, can anyone here with a good knowledge of Hollywood productions confirm his last point? 'The normalisation of torture in Zero Dark Thirty is a sign of the moral vacuum we are gradually approaching. If there is any doubt about this, try to imagine a major Hollywood film depicting torture in a similar way 20 years ago. It is unthinkable.' Is this actually the case?
