I don't mean to sound like a PEDANT but I bet there is an issue as to how much of one's "CLASS BIRTH" determines one's consciousness even if you "climb" (or "fall") the ladder?
I had my first seven years in a relatively poor working class family (NO TV in 1950 --- no car) --- don't think I'd ever been to the movies --- But from the time of my "settling" with Anne and Abel Meeropol, I lived a relatively comfortable middle class existence --- and always planned to be a college professor (Professional Managerial Class a la Barbara Ehrenreich?) --- And of top of that, of course, every individual sample of one means (virtually) Nothing.
