The idea that China is not imperialist because it is not expanding is ludicrous. It bergan expanded as soon as the Revolution took power in 1949, sending troops into Tibet and later encouraging Han Chinese to do what Israel has it's Jewish settlers do in the West Bank, taking land from Teibetans and taking over Tibet politically, politically and economically as well as militarily. The same thing is happening.now in Xinjiang. Basically the PRC has claimed all the territory that was occupied by several thousand years of Chinese emperors (or Manchurian or Mongol emperors) including the Song and Tang dynasties in the south which stretched Ur-China's borders further southward into Yunnan and Vietnam, and then called all those regions part of historical China. Saying it is so doesn't make it so, however.
