That was the Fourth International and not just the US SWP.  In particular, 
Trotsky saw this as a way to aid the defense of the Soviet Union.  I recall 
being told a long time ago that a lot of SWP'ers served in the US merchant 
marine for the Murmansk Run.  Apart from this, I understand the SWP's position 
was revolutionary defeatist in WW II.
