marxmail will hopefully have a forum on the German elections sometime in the 
near future. I don't know really understand them. But I read that BSW did not 
break the 5% threshold nor did they win three direct constituency seats, so 
they lost representation in the Bundestag that they previously had from the Die 
Linke split. Die Linke reportedly received 8.8% of the vote and have recovered 
from the split. The Left Party is opposed to mass deportation, if I understand 
correctly.

This makes me wonder if the arithmetic of AfD + BSW gains might give us the 
wrong sum: Rather than an electorate shift to a deportations frame of mind, 
parts of the electorate might be polarizing towards the right and left with a 
large mass in the middle. The CDU, I understand, flirted with an alliance with 
the AfD not that long ago and touched a hot stove.
