No. You might believe what she allegedly said on the stump (but can you actually cite her saying it?). Her formal House Resolution omits nuclear energy. It calls for "meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources, including— (i) by dramatically expanding and upgrading renewable power sources; and (ii) by deploying new capacity;..." ( via https://www.ocasiocortez.com/green-new-deal ) The resolution goes on and on. This quote is as close as it gets to specifying which energy sources are green. The emphasis is on "renewable," which is popularly understood to mean solar and wind. Furthermore, when AOC introduced the resolution, NPR reported that "the ultimate goal is to stop using fossil fuels entirely, Ocasio-Cortez's office told NPR, as well as to transition away from nuclear energy." https://www.npr.org/2019/02/07/691997301/rep-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-releases-green-new-deal-outline She introduced the resolution in 2019. It was reintroduced in 2023 as a senate resolution by Sen. Markey with pretty much the same text. AOC with her Green New Deal is either consistently anti-nuclear, or she talks out of both sides of her mouth. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
