David, I just share what seem reasonable conclusions about: solar power usage - you even state while trying to deny - that those in Cuba accepted Venezuela oil - (being complacent and not seeking self sufficiency through solar) There is very little solar panels as the reality - and that is in a socialist planned economy (or should be a socialist planned economy - instead of bending to capitalist market forces)
I am an open acknowledged fan of solar usage instead of environmentally damaging fossil fuels. Where fossil fuels can be better used in Cuba (and far less actual amounts) are for needed medical related supply products. What capitalists want for electric vehicles - could be instead "adopted" (ripped off and "stealing" from some private property rule patents, to set up for use by tractors and other farm equipment. I do not have a car myself since in part grew up in a city using public transit. I still use public transit in the city I moved to in 1976 (Los Angeles) and that city stopped using gasoline for their vehicles from buses to trains. If people have to make choices in Cuba with how to use energy sources, they might give up cars to get around and favor electric power by solar for their homes as more an important choice - as refrigeration. There could have been electric vehicles usage IF the mindsets who made decisions - wanted to find alternatives to gasoline usage vehicles. As for nuclear power and your not wanting to recognize how some humans are anti-social in thought and mentally deranged to cause harm to nuclear power plants. (Besides the natural affects of earthquakes and hurricane storms effects). Cuba can survive (as Los Angeles) without nuclear energy usage. I personally object to nuclear radiation as my personal feelings and the data does not rule that possible outcome. We can operate without abusing horses - as before vehicles - and now even mayor Mandani wants to end horse drawn carriages in New York. You can take a rickshaw there by one of the former drivers replacing horses, to get around. Perhaps there is an interest for rickshaws before vehicles to be used in Cuba - as an alternative to harming the environment. You do care about the planet's environmental health? Or you give no concern as just "what is easiest and best for you - that is the selfish mindset that holds so much of humanity back - instead of what works best with cooperating to get a better empowered Community, with all concerns - and we get rid of such destructive forms as plastic bags (that are popular usage in Cuba - and no more in California - by government concerns of their damage to the oceans as a fossil fuel product - but perhaps you do not care about that either. Many people do not want to change and just accept environmentally harmful products. Just as meat eaters do not want to give up any food as "tasty" as veal, despite the harm to animals as not humane. I gave up eating red meat as for better health and not harm to animals, or workers in the meat processing slaughter houses. I do not eat lobsters or clams - and not because of it being "sinful" to do (states the Abrahamic religious faith mindset) And I do not harm pigs, which are fortunately covered as not to eat but the christian hypocrites ignore that as they do other parts of Leviticus. But I prefer to try to live in a needed sustainable world and prefer whales to exist and not to use for lamp oil or elephants for ivory or rhinos for peoples beliefs on sexual reproduction. No reptile skins for footwear, or bird feathers for clothing "fashion" etc, etc. We each can be responsible and caring for all on a sustainable world - organized for all to harm none. I enjoy butterflies and bees and all threatened by your corporate polluters for their profits. I want the beauty of this planet (snow capped mountains and coral reefs both threatened by your fossil fuel usage) - while not considered as essential for Cuba by that complacent government not environmentally concerned but personal financial gains. You should consider sustainability as an important concern to better life and not just using plastic bags for convenience and "how things were done" to not change. We now have indoor plumbing and sewer systems instead of the "natural god given" former usage. .No more candles and whale oil for lighting and we can get past the fossil fuels for transport too. You might like Space X, as more interest to you than providing a sustainable planet for all to enjoy and be provided shelter (without destructive usage), healthcare, better education and not current that creates those non-questioning, accepting, adapting to wrongs that harms others.
