Sniffers can be quite effective. NT has netmon in the server toolkit, or
in te SMS bundle. Microsoft SMB (port 137/8) tends to plaster the machine
name all over its packets, which can help. nmblookup from the Samba 
package can also help - I seem to hazily recall doing:

nmblookup -B {ip-address} -S \*
