I also find that SGI and Sun hardware absolutely tramples over contemporary PC or PPC hardware... :) I know it's off-topic, but Charles, which SGI machines and linux versions are you using there? I'm trying to get some of my multi-architecture network boxes to co-exist more peacefully and have started experimenting with the SGIs as my Apples are pretty happily running 24/7 now (headless Mandrake cli-only servers). Irix is a bit nasty and bloated for my liking (not to mention expensive...) but I haven't really tried linux on the SGIs yet. Any pointers? This is probably so off-topic that perhaps it would be better if I mailed you directly - of course, only if you're willing and have the time!
