I have been experimenting with OpenOffice lately ... mostly becuase I
find myself increasingly more multi-platform and want things to be as
normal as possible across Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.

Overall I have been pleased with OpenOffice. I have been migrating to
it from Word (Mac & Windows) for everyday tasks and so far all I
really miss is integration with EndNote bibliography mangement
software. It is a robust and mature or maturing product. At times, it
lacks the polish of MS Office, but provides a good deal of
functionality with very little re-training necessary. Being that it is
free, I'd take the time to download and try it out.

I have used AppleWorks some, but never could take it seriously (sorry!).
