again I dont use OSX but its installing under XP running PearPC as we speak. :)

And is it as slow as win xp under macos ??

I've heard that it is a few orders of magnitude slower than real hardware - as in it takes several hours to boot on a > 3 GHz Intel x86.


VirtualPC, on the other hand, is quite usable even on my 333 MHz iMac (I now have a 600 MHz upgrade, so it's much quicker).

When you have a multitasking OS, the speed of the emulation isn't so bad, since you can always do other things while you're waiting for the virtual machine to do something. I'm sure this is the only way that people running PearPC can bear it.

Even an old PC emulator on a 7.5 MHz 68008 Sinclair QL was only about 1/10th the speed of a real PC (as opposed to 1/100 - 1/1000th). When you absolutely need it, it's there (and the QL did have real multitasking).
