X11 Forwarding

I use a computer at school, and i would like to be able to get x11 
forwarding to work. I want to forward the display from my computer at 
home to the computer at school. I have looked at many guides and faqs 
and other things, but i cant seem to get it to work.

both computers are using Panther.
can someone please walk me through each and every step that i should 
take on both computers, as well as some common errors or something? and 
can you explain what the display ports are?
