It may not be mature, but I would not call it bad or
incomplete. I used a Quadra 800 running OpenBSD 3.3
for 18 months as my border router/firewall. I only
recently retired it when I put a web proxy in place.
The Quadra wasn't quite strong enough to handle the
load :-)

I personally like Open, so I'll put that disclaimer
right out now. That said, I would like to point out
the following:

-OpenBSD requires a "supported" arch. to be able to
compile the base system on its self. NetBSD does not
have this requirement. What does this mean? In Net
1.6, ( haven't confirmed this for 2.0 ) You could not
compile the base system on VAX. You HAD to cross
compile. You could compile the base system on
OpenBSD.

-Back in time a few months, Net 1.6, Open 3.5, Free
5.1 (?): The only BSD that would support the Sun
Ultra10's built in VGA framebuffer for X was OpenBSD.
This may have since been fixed.
-----

I have used and installed Open, Net, and Free on m68k,
macppc, Sparc64, i386, Sparc. I have installed Net
and Open on MIPS64.

In each case, once something is a "supported arch,"
the support is just fine. It all comes down to
personal preference of the admin after that.

By all means, feel free to discuss/argue with me. I
enjoy a nice debate.

Cheers

-Matt
