I recently got YDL4 to install on my beige G3.  Hooray!

Sorry no help for the video issues.

I did some work trying to get YDL to work on a 9600/300, the ethernet drivers gave me fits. I just copied all the RPMs to a hard drive and used rpm -F and rpm -U on a YDL 3 install. I had to compile the kernel myself with a few changes to the stock kernel config. Sorry, I didn't document my changes, and they were mostly for my tulip 10/100 card.

I might try Fedora Core 4 next, but we recently purchased several G5's, so I may be able to finally get away from beige Macs.
