I've never had a problem saving an attachment.

I take it you did click on the separate "parts" that show in the top, right
hand window by the message headers? You click on the "part" you want to
view or save, click save then choose your directory. AFAIK there has never
been a problem with this ...

Once you have saved the file, then add it as the attachment ...

Long winded, I know. I dunno if this has been fixed in the versions soon to
be released (hint hint ;)
