Peter, Best Buy does not pay their employees on commission. As far as I know
net even their managers. So that is the quality of help that they get.
Of course I've seen some pretty jerky people at Circuit City and they do pay on
commission. The commissions vary by item not a straight percentage. They may
only get $10 or so on a computer and yet they get $5 on a printer cable. That's
because the printer cable costs CC about 4 or 5 dollars and they sell it for 25
or 30.
I know about these things because my daughter's boyfriend worked there for a
while. In a busy store you can make some decent money. But they also expect
you to do other things (like clean up!) for your money.
