Rodney,

That's not really a very good record for Sony! I feel that if you have 10
pieces of electronic equipment costing $200.00 or more you should expect no
more then 2 to give you any problems in three years.

I have had good luck with Panasonic over all. Much better then Sony (but
that's not saying much).

Sharp has pretty reliable. Aiwa is not too bad (before you go saying that
Sony owns Aiwa, they make totally different products in different plants. I
have personally never seen an Aiwa product that is a Sony Clone).

Pioneer: Receivers have been good. 6 CD changers so so. Forget their Air
Conditioners!!

Phillips: mixed. RCA too complex to go in to. Older RCA is a different
company than today. (I believe their TV are now made by Thompson).

Most, but not all, brands of TVs are fairly reliable compared to other
components. Panasonic has been good for me and their picture quality is
good to.

When it comes to picture quality (not reliability) Sonys are usually very,
very good. I'm sure that their ultra high end XBR or (what is that FUX? )
digital flat screen TVs are amazing. I'll bat they are probably close to
the stand that others are compared to.
