It's just a matter of throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Panic never is a good guidance. MSFT experienced this with the very
disappointing
launch of WP7 (focus, restart), see how many WP7 devices were launched the
last few months, zero.
So Nokia was a very willing prey....
But as anybody can tell you, it's the hardware where things go "wrong" ,
double agenda's, carriers, etc. Very complicated.
Isn't it extremely interesting that HP, a long time Windows advocate, is
switching to
another OS than Windows, Apple keeps its bets on Unix (yes !) and OpenGL
(even more yes).
These 2, MSFT and Nokia, loosers are betting on ,what ?
I can tell you now already, the future is
Native, Web(Open)GL, and html5.
Standards are created by the market, as i see it, the market says
Native,()GL, HTML5
You know UI: GL and html5
Real functionality: Native
We're way past the fact that standards are created by 1 manufacturer.

Believe that if you will, but Meego a) isn't complete b) hasn't reached
a critical mass c) doesn't have a sponsored piece of target hardware
and d) has probably lost most or all of its corporate sponsorship.
As far as I can tell, its at a high risk of being abandoned especially
as a handset OS, because from what I can tell, handset hardware is
highly proprietary.
