Craig,
With some machining the L20B crank can be installed in the L18 block. With
86 mm bore this gives 1998 cc. Due to the shorter block deck height of the
L18 (208 mm versus 227mm L20B) rod angularity is horrible. It is a fairly
common conversion but I think the vector (side thrust) losses into the wall
of the bore is way to high to justify this setup, unless a class limitation
requires the use of that particular block etc. Currently there is a 1600
running with a machined plate sandwiched onto the top of an L18 block with
the piston running up into the spacer plate to alleviate this problem and
give greater capacity, but it cost a bomb!
Cheers
Feral Errol.
