Now if you want quick quarter times  forget 3.54, try a 5.1.  But it will drive you crazy sitting at 4 grand in fifth, when your only doing 100kph.

Subject: Re: diff ratio on turbo motors

Wardy,
Im running a 3.9 behind my z18et and have been more than happy with it. Has great acceleration around the streets and is not revving "too" much on the freeway - not that it visits highways all that often. Anyways i picked up more than 4mph over the quarter mile after changing nothing but my diff ratio from a 3.54 to a 3.9, so id recommend sticking with it!!
Steve.

G'day Terry, I remember sone time back you were discussing the merits of diff ratios and turbo motors ie you suggested 3.7 seemed to be better for the performance of your car.  I was just interested in the ideas behind it.  I have a 3.9 in mine and while it works fine, it runs out of revs real quick in 1st, and has a fair engine speed in 5th on the freeway.  Would the 3.7 be more suited to me, or even 3.54 ? Thanks for your thoughts, Wardy
