Chris,
Your mate is correct, the 2 pot Sumitomo's aren't standard (possibly of
240K) and they could even be mounted towards the front of the wheel which
means your struts are reversed, don't worry if this is the case, quite
normal and safe. The standard 1600 brakes are 9" Akebono mounted at the rear
of the wheel and these do have tapered directional pads.

Hi everyone,

My 1969 1600 has twin piston Sumitomo calipers on the front. Are these
standard? a mate of mine reckoned they weren't. he thought they had some
sort of tapered pad as standard. Can someone fill me in, thanks in advance.
