It costs more than $20,000 even for a basic setup.
Seriously though, where do you work?
1.The trick with this kind of software is knowing what to model.
To do the whole car would take ages and you'd need a dedicated supercomputer
to do the number crunching.
You would only need to partially model important areas of the car for a
structural and suspension kinematic analysis, and there is no reason why it
wouldn't give good results that are useful.
At the moment I am thinking about my strut brace and sump guard.
By partially modelling the front end of the car you can tell where the most
flex is, and hence where to place the bar for max. effect (CAMS regs say
anywhere within 150mm of the strut).
Also the sump guard can be used to reinforce the chassis rails - how much
effect will it have / is it worth the effort, only a FEA model can tell.
Where do I place the rear legs of my roll-cage, and in what configuration,
for max. rigidity,
etc...
A good FEA model will help you decide on material requirements as well.
2. There are a few good suspension programs out there but you need the data
for them to be any use.
What you really need are the factory workshop manuals (failing actual
blueprints). The manuals use accurate drawings so you need one dimension
from the real object to determine the scale of the drawing, then you can
measure dimensions from the drawings far more accurately than you can from
the real object.
This data would be quite useful and could be stored online.
