Daniel,
I don't think either the racer or the suspension person are
correct, any 200B with factory offset tops out there were probably
retro-fitted with 180B items as there isn't a listing for them
specifically for the 810. The only factory Datsuns that were fitted with
offset strut tops were the late model 610 (180B) and the 710 which
wasn't sold in Australia by dealers. The offset tops fit the 200B
strut, no problem with that and many ppl on this list have done that
modification very successfully.
The offset tops are easily identifiable as one of the 3
retaining bolts on top of the tower is longer than the rest. The top of
the longer bolt doesn't have thread, it's like a locator or blind
thread. Also there are at least 2 different offsets available (5mm
& 10mm) which gives around 1 & 2 degrees of -ve camber from
static zero camber and it's not uncommon to have different tops
fitted to either side on the 180B. The offset is towards the different
retaining bolt.

Can you get offset strut tops from some
models of 200B's? I was told that would in take a degree
of static camber off my current static camber
setting. A reputable person who races 1600's told me that some
200B strut tops have the centre hole offset by about 10mm, is this
true? He also told me that they would bolt straight into my
1600 strut towers with the 200B strut and hilux caliper
conversion.
It's just that when I went to the wreckers
scouting around for them, I turned up nothing. One of the
wreckers that I went to claimed to have worked in a suspension shop
for 14 years and reckons the only standard offset strut tops that
datsun made were on the later model 1600 struts.
Could someone please sort out my confusion
as I would dearly love to get my hands on some off these offset tops
before I pull my entire front suspension apart.
