G'day Simon,

I your case 270mm rotors on your strut are a no go.

The early model came out with your setup. ie twin spot simitomos and 253mm
disks.
The later model came out with crappy looking single piston calipers and the
bigger disk. What I have done is take the later strut and try and fit the
early brake setup. This didn't work as the caliper bracket offset (radius
from axcel center, hope that makes sense) is greater on the later strut.
This meant when the early setup was bolted up the caliper was offset off the
disk. Infact the pad was hanging 5mm out from the outside edge of the disk.

So in order for me to use the later strut I had to change to the later 270mm
disk. This now means that the edge of the disk comes close to the caliper,
but doesn't rub. Now the pad is about 3mm from the outsede edge of the disk.
So the setup is OK.

My problem is the bloke that had the car before me had a really low ride
height at the front care of cut springs. This caused the disk to be scored
by the lower control arm, see adelaide 1600 site. Also the disks were warped
to buggery, which make it really tricky to race on as they get more warped
with more heat. ie worse braking with each consecutive lap.

I checked out most of the pick aparts in melb and couldn't find any good
270mm disks. So my fix is some new disks from RDA $78ea and I have ordered
some bendix ultimates. I'll let you all know how they go after my next
sprint at Winton 31/3 and 1/4.

Cheers
Trev

Trev,

A couple of weeks ago you mentioned that you were looking at the disks off a

later model 240k ie 270mm and twin spots.
I have 253mm and twin spots and was not far off buying new rotors for these
brakes when i read your email.
Will the calipers fit over the disks once the diameter is increased or do
you have some form of adapter to make fit???
simon
