The tall first is not for the traffic light surprises, but for circuit or
rallying it's the go. The closer ratios mean your revs are always in the
range where its on the cam. A standard (wide ratio) box usually means you
are often waiting for revs to rise to the point where the cam comes in after
swapping into the next higher cog.
