Richard,

The original 180B Jap 4 speed (flat pan) box is slightly longer than the
stock 1600 4 speed. I know this as I used to exchange the output shaft and
extn housing in them to create a bolt in a replacement 1600 4 spd box as
there was a high demand. A factory replacement box in the 70's for a 1600
was big $ and I built many of these half priced hybrids to finance rally
bits. I have a feeling the early 180BSSS dogleg boxes which are prolly all
dead these days so they don't feature these days but I'm nearly sure they
were the same length as the 180B jap 4 spd. I never used one of these as I
had a trusty Zed 5 spd box in the road and the rally car but there were
quite a few 180B dog boxes in 1600's around the place.

regards
Terry

The late 180BSSS 5 speed and the 200BSSS are exactly the same box. Both are
the same length as the original 200B Borg Warner 4 speed box and all are
130mm longer than the original 180B and 1600 4 speed box.

However the Stanza SSS 5 speed box was the same length as the earlier 4
speed boxes, hence it bolts straight into a 1600.
